Ed is a true real estate professional. He has been in real estate since graduating from college in 1973. As a real estate agent and broker Ed has closed over 1400 residential real estate transactions. As a real estate investor, Ed has bought and sold several investment properties and currently manages a real estate portfolio valued at over $65 Million.
He is very active in running and cycling and it’s not uncommon to see him working out more than once per day. He has been married for over 20 years and has 2 great daughters and 3 grandchildren.
“My wealth accelerated dramatically when I became a more active real estate investor. I’d made a lot of money as an agent, but I was only as good as my last sale. Investing in cash flow real estate (commercial and residential) I now have the monthly cash flow to do whatever I want and my personal financial statement gets better every year. My next goal is to help as many people as I can develop wealth in real estate and create a legacy for my family.”
- Ed Barriskill
CHAD A. DOTY | Founder
Chad is a self-professed real estate investing junkie. He is constantly looking for new ways to help his clients and to develop new ways to introduce people to his passions – real estate, wealth building, and entrepreneurship.
With a background in management consulting, portfolio management, and business development, Chad brings a comprehensive set of business management and leadership skills to the real estate industry – ultimately providing for a better product and experience for investors.
Chad left management consulting in 2005 to go independent and reduce his travel based on the birth of his son. Since then he has started a management consulting firm, a closely held equity investment pool, and for the past 4 years been very focused on real estate investing.
“I was drawn to real estate because I’ve been on this quest to develop passive income for me and my family. The stock market was a move in the right direction, but the volatility was emotionally too tough. I found real estate in 2006 and haven’t looked back. It is the best asset class I’ve found – passive income, tax advantages, the ability to create truly permanent wealth. There’s really nothing out there that provides the level of control and overall benefit as real estate.”
- Chad A. Doty
Chad is a proud husband of 14 years with a son and 2 dogs living in Richmond, VA. While there’s not enough time in the day, Chad is a sailing buff, golfer, runner, spends time with his family, and thinks up new ways to grow the business.
DAN CHAMBERLAIN | Director, Operations
Dan has a passion for solving complex problems and teaching and mentoring others. Quite frankly, Dan just gets it done. In his prior positions as a successful Big 5 Consultant and Director of Information Technology within a large multi-billion dollar organization, he was directly responsible for delivering large client projects across a geographically diverse organization and client-base.
As the Director of Operations, Dan oversees 37th Parallel’s real estate acquisition, renovation, and sales processes in conjunction with managing strategic internal projects. This includes working with field partners in 5 different states and across several different disciplines.
He is obsessed with client satisfaction, constant improvement, and teaching/coaching others…and demands the most of 37th Parallel’s field partners teams and staff.
“I was with a friend of mine one afternoon after working yet another 60+ hour week discussing the pros and cons of climbing the corporate ladder. He asked me a question that I’ll never forget…’Based on the career path you’re on, do you see yourself coaching your kids’ soccer teams like you’ve always wanted too?’ The hard answer was no. I wasn’t on the right path. I was climbing the ladder quickly; but it was leaning against the wrong wall.
I started looking at real estate and ways to create an income for my family that wasn’t directly proportional to my working 60 hour weeks and weekends (with only increasing time/travel demands as I climbed the ladder). 37th Parallel Properties was the perfect match. We provide excellent investments and education for our clients in long-term, life-impacting relationships. I’m building permanent wealth for my family, work with a company that has a great moral and ethical compass, and have a blast in the process.”
- Dan Chamberlain
Dan is an avid soccer and wrestling (he hails from Pennsylvania) fan. He has been blessed with his wife Kristie, their two children, and a gentle-giant dog and also lives in Richmond, Virginia.
Richard Webster| Director, Investor Relations
Rick brings a wealth of experience to 37th Parallel Properties. After a graduating from the University of California, Davis campus Rick did a 4 year stint in the sail boat industry.
“In T-Shirts, shorts and sandals I sold quite a few boats back then, but in that time I realized I wasn’t there just to sail and sell. I was out there to understand people. I learned to ask a lot of questions, to really listen and had a lot of fun doing it.”
- Rick Webster
As Director of Investor Relations, his 29 years of Real Estate experience are brought to bear to help our clients succeed far beyond their expectations. He has renovated and managed homes, duplexes and multiple unit properties both for others and for his own account. He has experience in foreclosure, short sale and loan modification strategies. As the former owner of 3 small mortgage companies in addition to running his own Real Estate brokerage operation Rick has personally assisted well over 800 families to acquire their own homes and helped countless sellers to move on with their plans as well. In 1993 Rick joined Re/Max to further concentrate his Real Estate efforts on residential transactions.
Rick’s approach to people is highly individualized. With a well developed sense of empathy he tailors 37th Parallel’s programs to custom fit each investor’s circumstances. Big or small … experienced or new … risk taker or risk averse … every investor’s unique plans, dreams and starting point are taken into account.
“While some might rationalize their ambitions with the phrase ‘it’s not personal, it’s only business’ my philosophy is to approach every individual investor with the commitment that, “it’s not just business, it’s absolutely personal.”
- Rick Webster
In his private life, Rick is an accomplished private pilot, has a background in recreational sailing and spends a lot of his personal time hiking. With two kids graduated (UCD & UCSC) and two still doing their undergraduate work (Cal Poly and Saint Mary’s) he considers his job as a parent to be his enduring number one priority.
