There’s a quote by William Butler Yeats,
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
If the books below don’t help you set yourself on fire, then real estate is not the industry for you.
Listed below are what Ed and I would call the essential reads. You don’t have to read them in the order we’ve provided, however the learning tends to be more effective when they build on each other. Let us know what you think.
Any great reads that we should include?
Investment Property Education
The Success Principles(TM): How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be – Jack Canfield
Don’t be put off because this is written by the Chicken Soup for the Soul guy. This book is one if not the best consolidation of success principles that I’ve found – Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, etc. all wrapped into one.
The Millionaire Real Estate Investor – Gary Keller
A great book on introducing building and managing a portfolio of real estate and the power of taking consistent action every day, week, month towards your goals in real estate.
What Every Real Estate Investor Needs to Know About Cash Flow… And 36 Other Key Financial Measures – Frank Gallinelli
Fundamental ready when it comes to understanding the numbers behing real estate benefit investments. It can sometimes read like stereo instructions, but he does a great job of keeping everythgin relevant and providing ample case studies. Read it once then keep it close at hand on your reference shelf.
The Complete Guide to Buying and Selling Apartment Buildings – Steve Berges
Complete book focused on apartment investing. If you’re ready to start buying, selling and operating apartment projects on your own or would like to learn how to dissect an apartment investment pro-forma. This is a great read.
The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It – Michael Gerber
Learning how to work “on” your business vs. “in” your business is something every business builder and investor needs to learn. We struggle with getting better at it every day. We find that every process that we can automate and control provides us more free time to get creative and focus on the client while providing a more consistent higher quality experience.
That’s it for now. We’ll add more good reads in other posts, but this is a great start.
